Presbyterians are a group of Protestants founded on the concept of a church governed by representative democracy under the guidance and a authority of the Word of God. The name Presbyterian comes from a New Testament title, Presbuteros, meaning "elder," and refers to the custom of choosing leaders from among the most spiritually mature members of the church.
To become a Christian (and Presbyterian) one must:
  • Confess that one has sinned in the sight of God
  • Trust in Jesus Christ as our forgiving Savior
  • Promise to follow Christ and his example for living
  • Commit oneself to participate regularly in worship of the church and become involved in its mission.
